Course Description:
This one day course covers fundamental surveying theory, calculations, field measurement and staking. Measurement of distances and angles along with differential leveling are addressed in the classroom and in the field using surveying equipment. Attendees should have attended the Basic Surveying Workshop offered by T3S previously or be licensed professional engineer. This workshop will require use of a scientific calculator and each participant will need to bring their own. This class will be limited to 21 participants.

Speaker Bio:
Mr. Messier has over 35 years of professional level experience in a variety of surveying and civil engineering endeavors.  His surveying experience includes performing and managing control surveys, deformation monitoring surveys, boundary and right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, engineering surveys, utility surveys, and subdivision and commercial development surveys.  His engineering experience includes commercial site planning and design, and roadway planning, design, and construction monitoring.

Mr. Messier has also taught surveying and civil engineering courses at four universities including the University of Maine, Old Dominion University, East Tennessee State University and Clemson University.  He also served as program coordinator for the Surveying Technology and Civil Engineering Technology Programs at Southwestern Community College in Sylva, NC.

Who Should Attend:
Experienced individuals including engineers, supervisors, managers, state and local officials, road department personnel, licensed professional engineer and others who are interested in learning advanced surveying methods. Attendance of the Basic Surveying Workshop offered by T3S previously is encouraged but not required.

Registration Fee:
The registration fee for the workshop is $125.00 per person. All South Carolina city, county, or state employees receive a LTAP scholarship registration fee of $50.00. The fee includes course materials, break refreshments, and the noon luncheon.

Advance registration is encouraged so that an accurate estimate of the number of workshop participants can be obtained. This class is limited to 21 participants. Workshops with low advance registration will be subject to cancellation.

Payment Policy

UPDATED 2/15/23 – The Transportation Technology Transfer Service now accepts Electronic Check (ACH) payments in addition to credit card payments. While credit card payments are still the preferred payment method, you now have the Electronic Check (ACH) option. Your payment must be received within 5 business days of your registration. If your registration payment is not received by then, you will not be guaranteed registration for the conference.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration more than 72 hours before a class, your registration fee will be refunded, less a $35 processing fee. If you do not cancel before the 72 hour deadline your registration fee will not be refunded. You may send a substitute in your place, provided that you inform us of the substitute’s name no later than 24 hours before the training.  No-shows will not have their registration fee refunded.
