The Flagger is an important part of maintenance, construction, and utility projects.  As a flagger, your coworkers and the public depend upon you to be alert and control traffic with the stop/slow paddle.  Learn how to be a safe and effective Flagger with our flagger training workshop. In this workshop we will cover why proper flagger operations are important, the abilities of a good flagger, standard flagger procedures, and standard flagger practices for different types of set-ups.

This class will also include a hands-on demonstration of the STOP/SLOW paddle and red flag to allow participants to become familiar with these devices.

This is a qualification courses that meets the MUTCD requirements. This course is not ATSSA certification, if you are interested in the ATSSA certification course, please email t3s@clemson.edu with your agency, number of employees to train and contact information.

Speaker Bio

Todd Morrison, P.E., is a Technology Transfer Engineer with the Kentucky Local Technical Assistance Program, at the University of Kentucky. He retired from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet after serving in the Divisions of Construction, Maintenance and Traffic. At the Cabinet, he worked with environmental, work zone, pavement, construction and maintenance concerns as an Environmental Coordinator, Maintenance/Traffic Engineer, Resident/Construction Engineer, Area Engineer, and as a Branch Manager for Operations. Recently he served for two years as Kentucky’s Safety Circuit Rider helping local agencies identify low cost improvements to reduce crashes.

Schedule

Class check-in will begin at 12:45pm, with instruction beginning promptly at 1pm and adjourning around 4:30pm. Afternoon snacks will be provided.

Course Fee

The registration fee for the workshop is $75.00 per person. The fee includes course materials and morning refreshments/snacks.

Who Should Attend

Any individual who will flag or have the potential to flag in highway and street construction; bridge, tunnel, water or sewer construction; concrete, utilities, or paving industries; and county or municipal street/public works departments should attend this training.

Payment Policy

UPDATED 2/15/23 – The Transportation Technology Transfer Service now accepts Electronic Check (ACH) payments in addition to credit card payments. While credit card payments are still the preferred payment method, you now have the Electronic Check (ACH) option. Your payment must be received within 5 business days of your registration. If your registration payment is not received by then, you will not be guaranteed registration for the conference.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration more than 72 hours before a class, your registration fee will be refunded, less a $35 processing fee. If you do not cancel before the 72 hour deadline your registration fee will not be refunded. You may send a substitute in your place, provided that you inform us of the substitute’s name no later than 24 hours before the training.  No-shows will not have their registration fee refunded.
