Class Cancelled due to Low Registration 

Course Description: 

Motorists dislike delays when traveling on public roads.  This workshop explores ways to minimize the public’s irritation during road and bridge maintenance activities while enhancing public backing for projects. Throughout the workshop participants will learn helpful tips for communicating with the public, achieving effective community relations and improving public discourse.

Course Instructor: 

Hank Lambert has over 35 years of experience with municipal governments in the fields of management, transportation, and dispute resolution.  His broad experience includes service as a town manager, Vermont State official, Director of the Vermont LTAP, leader of numerous workshops and provider of timely technical assistance to municipalities.

Schedule:

Class registration is from 8:00-8:30.  The class will begin at 8:30.  Lunch will be provided.  We should adjourn around 3:00.

Topics Covered: 

  • How to gain understanding and support for your organization and your projects
  • Why effective communication means good marketing; and how to do both
  • How to get the public on your side by telling your story
  • How to minimize public irritation during maintenance of roads and bridges
  • How to gain consensus when the topic is contentious and passions run high

Course Fee:

The registration fee for the workshop is $135.00 per person. All South Carolina city, county, or state employees receive a LTAP scholarship registration fee of $50.00. The fee includes course materials, break refreshments, and the noon luncheon.

This course has a maximum of 30 students, and will be capped at this number. Advanced registration is encouraged so that an accurate estimate of the number of workshop participants can be obtained. Workshops with low advanced registration will be subject to cancellation.

Cancellation Policy: 

If you cancel your registration more than 72 hours before a class, your registration fee will be refunded, less a $35 processing fee. If you do not cancel before the 72 hour deadline your registration fee will not be refunded. You may send a substitute in your place, provided that you inform us of the substitute’s name no later than 24 hours before the training. No-shows will not have their registration fee refunded.

Payment Policy

UPDATED 2/15/23 – The Transportation Technology Transfer Service now accepts Electronic Check (ACH) payments in addition to credit card payments. While credit card payments are still the preferred payment method, you now have the Electronic Check (ACH) option. Your payment must be received within 5 business days of your registration. If your registration payment is not received by then, you will not be guaranteed registration for the conference.
